Hon. Susantha Kumara Nawarathna posed a written question to the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation seeking detailed information regarding paddy land filling approvals in the Anuradhapura District for 2024-2025. Specifically, he requested the total extent of approved paddy lands, the names of individual landowners, the size of each approved plot, and the reasons for granting such approvals. He also requested that copies of the relevant official letters bearing the signature of the Commissioner General of Agrarian Development be tabled in Parliament, or an explanation provided if this information cannot be furnished.
asked the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation:
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) the total extent of paddy lands in the Anuradhapura District for which approval had been granted by the Department of Agrarian Development for filling during the year 2024-2025, the name of each paddy land owner, the size of the respective paddy land for which approval had been granted and the reasons for granting such approval, separately; and
(ii) whether copies of the letters issued in this regard bearing the signature of the Commissioner General of Agrarian Development will be submitted?
(b) If not, why?
