2026-02-18 / oral_question: Oral Question Q.1664/2025 - Land Reform Commission Lands 2026-02-18
## Summary
Hon. Sanjeewa Ranasingha submitted Written Question No. 1664/2025 to the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation seeking detailed information about Land Reform Commission (LRC) lands in the Kalutara District. The question requests a comprehensive breakdown by Divisional Secretary's Division covering the total extent of LRC land holdings, the distribution of lands under various tenure arrangements (leasehold, direct public allocation, freehold, and land permits), and the extent of abandoned and unlawfully encroached lands. The member also specifically asks whether freehold deeds can be issued for permit lands and whether abandoned lands can be re-vested and reallocated to landless individuals, suggesting an underlying concern about land access and potential misuse of LRC holdings in the district.
