The Hon. Sanjeewa Ranasingha

2026-02-18

Hon. Sanjeewa Ranasingha raised a supplementary question regarding the productive utilization of Land Reform Commission (LRC) lands, noting that significant extents currently remain underutilized. He highlighted the government's planned large-scale industrial and agricultural initiatives and proposed that LRC lands be allocated to support these projects. He also drew attention to public requests for small plots for cultivation, asking what specific steps would be taken to make LRC lands accessible for agricultural purposes.

Hon. Speaker, my second supplementary is this: Often, LRC lands are not productively utilized. There are significant extents available. Our Government has planned large-scale initiatives for industry and various cultivation projects. I propose that these lands be used productively for such purposes. Many people also request small plots for cultivation. What steps will be taken to make LRC lands available for cultivation in response to these requests?
