Question to the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources:
(a) Is he aware that in the Pottuvil Divisional Secretary’s Division there are—
(i) fishery buildings that were renovated after the tsunami;
(ii) fishery buildings that were given on rent/lease and buildings that have been sold, among those buildings; and
(iii) buildings that have not hitherto been used, among those buildings?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether steps will be taken to provide the fishery buildings mentioned in (a)(iii) above for Government and public needs;
(ii) the parties in charge of, who do maintenance and revenue collection of the multi-purpose fishery buildings constructed in Jalaldeen Square and in the Kanaker GN Division by the Small-scale Fisheries Federation after the tsunami; and
(iii) whether action will be taken to vest these multi-purpose fishery buildings with the Pottuvil Pradeshiya Sabha or to allocate them for public use after providing the owners of the above buildings with alternative lands through the Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat, if those owners are identified?
