Hon. (Dr.) Anil Jayantha, acting on behalf of the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, moved a motion seeking parliamentary approval for a regulation made by the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies. The regulation was issued under sections 2 and 5 of the Special Commodity Levy Act, No. 48 of 2007, published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 2469/12 on 31 December 2025, and tabled in Parliament on 5 February 2026. Cabinet approval for the regulation had already been granted prior to the motion.

On behalf of the Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, I move: “That the regulation made by the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies under sections 2 and 5 of the Special Commodity Levy Act, No. 48 of 2007, published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 2469/12 of 2025-12-31 and presented on 2026-02-05, be approved. (Cabinet approval has been granted.)”
