Hon. (Dr.) Anil Jayantha, acting on behalf of the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, moved a motion seeking parliamentary approval for regulations made under sections 237 and 126 of the Motor Traffic Act (Chapter 203). The regulations were previously published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 2467/52 on 17 December 2025 and tabled in Parliament on 6 February 2026. Cabinet approval for the regulations had already been granted prior to the motion.
On behalf of the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, I move:
“That the regulations made by the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development under section 237 read with section 126 of the Motor Traffic Act (Chapter 203), published in Gazette Extraordinary No. 2467/52 of 2025-12-17 and presented on 2026-02-06, be approved.
(Cabinet approval has been granted.)”
