Hon. Ravi Karunanayake

2026-03-03

Hon. Ravi Karunanayake raised a point of order regarding the allocation of parliamentary time during Oral Answers, noting a disparity whereby 35 minutes were spent on five Opposition questions compared to 45 minutes on four Government questions. He questioned whether this distribution was fair and equitable.

Sir, I rise to a point of order. Parliament started at 9.30 a.m. today. You made your announcements for 5 minutes. During Oral Answers, 35 minutes were spent on five Opposition questions, and 45 minutes on four Government questions. I ask whether fairness should prevail here.
