The Hon. Riyas Farook

Hon. Riyas Farook raised a matter of parliamentary privilege, reporting that W.G. Chaminda Thilakaratne, Vice Chairman of the Akurana Pradeshiya Sabha, publicly threatened to physically assault him during a Pradeshiya Sabha general meeting on 13 January 2026. The threat allegedly arose in response to a statement Farook had made in Parliament on 09 January 2026. He called for an immediate inquiry and appropriate action to safeguard Members' parliamentary privileges and personal safety.
